I love this site. You guys are just the best, for better or for worse. Yeah, sure, I've been misquoted (my fault) and the thread I posted about CNN has flared into an argument about inflation...or something about Australia. I don't know. For that I sincerely apologize. Really.
Onto my point:
Does anyone wish a developer would just make one simple change to a game that might make their already successful game even more ridiculously fun? Examples:
1. Halo.
Hasn't anyone wanted to play as a Hunter or Jackal in multiplayer? Did they add this in Halo 4? I know you could play as Elites (Halo 3?), but I think it would be a great change of pace to play as something with an entirely different feel to it, not just the standard humanoid Elite. Also, is there a Cortana skin in Halo 4? The answer to that question might push me over the edge and pay for Live again.
2. Take any AAA shooter and add racing to it.
I'm not talking about a dedicated racing game. I'm saying that all a developer would have to do is add a moveable starting line and finish line in multiplayer maps. BOOM. Instant racing, except everybody has guns.
--I remember downloading user-made multiplayer maps in Far Cry Instincts on XBox that were made as race tracks. The compulsion to make custom race tracks goes back at least that far. The map editor was amazing. All they needed was a start/finish flag and some race stat tracking.
--In GTA IV there's a train station entrance at Brighton Beach (near the ferris wheel) that's wide enough to drive a car up/onto. I loved getting a car on the elevated tracks and racing into Manhattan through the train tunnels. Unfortunately, the exposed columns underground made racing there hazardous, but I would still floor it every time. I haven't touched that game in so long, so I'm probably talking about stuff that's already happened.
--How cool would that be to have legit Mongoose races in Halo? One player drives and the passenger gets to shoot the guys in 2nd place in the face. What's not to love about that idea?
Eh, I'm probably asking for stuff that's already happened. Or maybe this is crap that nobody's ever thought of or even wants?
