Ok, Ireland hasn't exactly had a history of being a forward thinking nation. It's in our constitution that we are a Catholic country. Homosexuality was only legalised here in the 80's, divorce and contraception in the 90's. Recently we had an openly gay senator run for president and at one stage we thought he'd win. Who'd have thought wed end up ahead of the curve on this kind of thing. I suppose, the horrible shit the church did in this country probably raises the suspicion that they were wrong about everything, not just who they hire.
