Chicago Teacher Strike Is A Perfect Example Of What's Wrong With Public Sector Workers.

Chicago School teachers making an average of 71+ thousand of tax payer dollars a year before their unbelievably good benefits package are out on strike. These people deserve nothing less than to be unceremoniously fired and replaced on the spot.

How quickly do you think you could find people to work 9.5 months a year for 71k salary, 97% of your healthcare costs paid, and be able to retire at 55 while still getting almost your entire salary?

I'm sure their contract allows for such a strike but it's ridiculous that public sector employees who are making close to twice what the average person in Chicago makes are allowed to shut down government like this for such selfish means essentially giving the middle finger to the parents and children they serve. These teachers don't give a damn about the children they only care about themselves and ripping off the tax payers.

Again, these people are making over 70 thousand a year, pay only 3% of their healthcare costs, and are able to retire after 30 years with absolutely amazing pensions that are better than what the majority of private sector workers will ever see. They get all this and they have the nerve to go on strike? Screw that, fire every last one of these people and let them go find out how good they really have it.

This wouldn't be so egregious if they were actually doing their job. However, in Chicago only 15 percent of 4 grade students can read at on a proficient level for their grade. It's ridiculous. If any private sector worker was performing at this level they'd be lucky to keep their job never mind having the gall to walk out and demand a raise.

The bottom line is that more states need to take a line out of Wisconsin's playbook and start dealing with these greedy and corrupt public sector unions in a manner that doesn't allow for them to stick it to the tax payers over and over.

These teachers on strike deserve to be fired on the spot. They are a perfect example of everything that is wrong with public sector workers and unions.
