Michael Lee Lunsford, the creator of webcomic Supernormal Step, has just posted a series of rather damn cool drawings, showing classic comic book heroines in fully-dressed versions of their normal outfits.

Ah-ah-ah! Before anyone jumps right to posting about damn political correctness/prudes/feminazis/white knights trying to take teh boobies out of comic books or force all female characters into burqas, here is the note accompanying the artwork:

Done doing these so here they all are in one place! Fully Dressed Redesigns of Superheroines.

Point of this: An exercise in character design, attempting to clothe the heroines nearly all the way and not making them painted-on, while still keeping the look of their original costumes in some way. Hopefully keeping them looking as iconic as the originally were. Just showing what can be done with a costume breaking outside the barrier of the norm.

NOT the point of this: some moral code I'm trying to push on you

Sorry if there was a character you wanted me to do that I didn't get to!

It's an artistic exercise in character design that he decided to share. Much like when people draw what superheroes would look like if they were an animal, or a My Little Pony character, or if they were played by Morgan Freeman (it probably happens). Just a way of expermenting with non-traditional character design.

So all that aside, what do you think of these designs? Do they still look cool? Did Lunsford do a good job of maintaining the character of the superheroines whilst also changing their costume?
