I just Finished the New Tomb Raider....and I have to say

it was pretty good!

I was really hopeful for this one, as I "got" what they were going for and hoped it would hit its mark despite the "controversy"

and I believe the people have spoken XD...so in other words HA! I was right!

however I do have some minor nitpicks....as nowdays I can't look at games without a critical filter...so for no real reason heres what I did and didn't like

*major spoilers ahead*

Liked
-the game looks gorgeous
-the animations and such are great....including Laras hair...even if it did spazz out/disappear a couple of times
-the game is brutal (not hard but I mean...well I'm sure you know what I mean) which is something I liked
-gameplay is good
-I like the fact that aside from being a female Lara is a protagonist that is actually put through some real..."difficulty" and undergoes some charachter development..
-story was cliche but passible
-charachters...a little stereotypical, but not so much that its "in your face" annoying, and I liked the "video camera" exposition? (thats not right is it?)

disliked
-you know that part? where Roth dies? and its all sad? sure it was sad but WHAT ABOUT THE PILOT?

Lara gets so desperate she points a gun to the helicopter pilots head to get him to land so he does, but the helicopter crashes...Roth dies and she imedietly forgets about the poor bastard piloting the helicopter (you could argue that he was pretty much dead anyway but still)

a couple of lines near the end had me eye rolling

Lara:(to Mathias) WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS!? <-you already know that

Mathias: do you think youre the hero!? all I did was survive! how many have you killed for the same? <-comes across as one of those "you're not so different" speeches, annoyingly cliche (thankfully nowhere near as stupid as the one in Uncharted 2 was though)

and of coarse the occsaional

Lara: SAM! SAM? SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM! SAAAAAAM! SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM! SAM SAM SAAAAAAAAAM!

-you can pretty much guess the alot of the plot points, "whos going to betray" who and whos going to die.Though to be fair while at least in this case whats his name has some actual motivation to betray the group aside from "I'm a bastard now and always have been"

-Laras freinds don;t seem to really do anything...I mean they do but you feel as if they don't, it just feels odd that Lara has to run off and do everything..I mean what about the big guy? he looks like he could handle himself in a fight, really youd think he would go with her <-now obviously this is because of gameplay....it just feels noticeable

-(not a dislike..just an observation) is it me or aside from lara did all the white people of the group die?....just noticed, also isnt it odd they killed the nerd? like "oh I'm gonna die now and let the normal people go on?"...no?....mabye just me

-I'm actually a little disappointed Sam didn't get turned into a "magical queen monster" you have to kill as a final boss...that would have been awsome

-I kind of wish this thing had a subtitle or somthing (a survior is born?) so we didn;t have to keep refering to it as "the Tomb raider reboot" or "tomb raider 2013"

-mabye a bit on the short side...I mean sure there was alot of other stuff to do but I'm not really a fan of having optional "stuff to do" when the stakes are already kind of high

overall though I'm really looking forward to what we might see in the sequel!

I also predict Yahtzee is not going to like to this one....like more than usual

EDIT: oh and that part where she is injured (like worse than usual) and then goes slogging through that dirty water...I cringed at the thourght of what nasty infection she would get
