Why don't AAA games have writers?

There are AAA games with writers. But it's a sad day when you find that you've enjoyed the story of black ops II , part of a series known for it's shitty writing, more than Halo 4 , a series known for it's complex universe. Not to say that Blops isn't a triple a game. There are triple A games with wonderful stories. An extreme minority.

It makes me sad. Because, as you can tell by how shitty my posts are, I'm not a professional writer and I could have easily wrote better stories for Skyrim, Halo 4 , gears of war, Modern warfare.. and so on and so forth... in under an hour. Games that pride themselves over their story (Human revolution for instance) aren't really better than average. I'm convinced that these game developers have a rule of 'if you can't explain it in four sentences it's to complex'. George R.R Martin would be lynched if he even appeared.

You're looking through the world from the eyes of your character. surely that should allow you to make a better story than a massive pile of text would allow?

It's horrible. I'm fairly sure a large portion of writers do shit to make themselves seem clever. I wonder if anyone found gears of war's "WHERE'S MY WIFE" bullshit moving whatsoever. Or if people thought Mercer Frey was a better villain because he had an evil sounding voice. I still don't understand MGR's direction; Serious issues like child soldiers and the voice of a humanised enemy that's juxtaposed by a fabulous cyborg samurai who uses sombreros and cardboard boxes to disguised himself.

If you exclude that 'weird' fanbase who wants to add romantic sub-plots to their favourite character at the expense of everything else (Looking at you, 343), any fan could easily write a better story than some 'professional' writers who are paid to do so.
