There's more on her website itself for backers only.
It seems that Anita Sarkeesian's "Tropes Vs. Women" series is just about to be released. Finally, the long anticipated, and much-flamed project is about to get out there so everyone can see what it's about. There's no hard details yet, but it's thought that videos will be about 10-15 minutes long, focusing on one trope (e.g., damsel in distress) at a time.
Personally, as a backer of this project, I'm very excited. I'm really looking forward to getting my $25. I enjoyed a lot of her previous work with "Tropes vs. Women" in T.V. and film, which had some really interesting and well-thought out points such as the Smurfette principle and the "women in refrigerators" idea. It made me realize that the society we're in is often a lot more sexist that we might realize.
So what are all your thoughts? I'm genuinely interested in hearing what everyone has to say about this, and that includes negative opinions as well as positive ones.
