so theres alot of controversy over Micheal Bay having his name attatched to the upcoming TMNT film. Not without reason given the annoying populaitry and questionable qualiry of the Transformers films
me? personally I'm not fussed, I mean I dont expect anything good but it is what it is and like many things I shall ignore (this is for a few reasons I get into)
others take the point of "dude...its ninja turtles, what do you expect? citizen kane?" to which I say hold on a second! thats a copout!...just because the premise is silly doesnt mean comthing good cant come out of it or that we should accept whatever shit bay serves us because "Turltes"
ok backing up, the reason I care less than others about it is becayse MY version of the turtles is different that of many others
I dont care about the cartoon, I barley ever watched it
my version is somthing slightly darker, the 1990 film .The reason I dotn care about the series now is THIS version..the version I know...a darker version closer to the original comics I dont feel is going to happen anytime soon, the last TMNT thing was a 2007 animated film closer to the 2003 animated series which I hated both for the right and wrong reasons
my point is what I liked about the turles (with a does of nostalga of coarse) will start and end with this film, I dont feel like we'll get somthing similar
but anyway thats just me
sure the sillyness is still there, but its darker...actually the film itself is VERY dark visually, mostly in to help the puppetry and animatronics, and I'd say it fits it very well. while the film is no citizen Kane it was make by people who actually tried with the scource material...who clearly werent putting out some crap to sell more toys (lets ignore the seaquels)
its a solid little flick
and I see now reason for it to be unreasonable to expect somthing half decent, oh sure this liek any other things in hollywood is a cashgrab, I know that, again I dont expect the new film to be good
but that doesnt mean it cant be good purley because of subject matter
