Here's something I was thinking about, though I'm sure, especially on this site, there is a more in depth opinion on it by someone popular and well known.
Sex vs Violence on tv and games.
A lot of people like to claim that the US treats sex worse then violence in tv, video games and so on, especially when compared to other cultures, here's my take on that.
First, it is defiantly true in most regards.
Second is that...they are not the same thing?
Violence is a act first off, it's not a lifestyle, and it's not something people actually do, barring only perhaps the youngest children and very uncommon events, and even then it's not really a lifestyle but a snapping point.
Where as sex IS exactly that. Sex and sexual things on tv are acts people do, constantly, it's a REAL desire, it's a real goal, a real aspiration, it is something that they can and often do apply to their real life.
People do not watch die hard and then use that as a means to getting a job, they do not watch pulp fiction and think that's a great way to get ahead in life.
You know what they do that with? Sex (and drugs but that's another thing) Anyways...just a thought.
Why should sex be censored above violence? Because it is actively applied to peoples lives, where as violence is not.
Sex on tv degrades women, degrades men, keeps stereotypes going. It hurts everyone involved, it's been proven to promote pedophilia, it promotes sexual harassment and a great deal many more things.
