The Title explains itself. What I want to know is what your top five anime are and why. One reason is because I'm curious and the second is that I'm hurting for an interesting tv series. Please do your list in descending order, which is five going down. I'll start by giving my top five.
5. Hellsing: This is a series that I've developed a kind of love/hate relationship with. On one hand, it's art style is unique compared to most anime and it's main character, Alucard, is a straight up bad-ass. On the other hand, it can sometimes lean a bit too much on fan service. I know sex and gore go hand in hand, but it can be a tad ridiculous at some points. However, the uniqueness of Helssing redeems it's other lesser qualities, at least for me it does.
4. DragonBall: Most people probably don't even know that before DragonBallZ there was DragonBall, and in my opinion it's a lot better. First of all, DragonBall didn't mess around like it's older brother. It didn't waste two and half episodes with a bunch of yelling and staring. The action and story came quick and the world was more unique than usual cities you'd get to see in DragonBallZ. So for me, this was the series that started it all.
3. Baccano: What can I say about Baccano that hasn't been said by anyone that's already watched. It's great, that's pretty much it. It's story is seems jumbled at first, but as you watch more and more episodes everything just comes together. You'll probably remember every character despite how many there are, and the show doesn't come clear whether or not it has a main character. However, this series isn't for those that have a hard time following stories. If your not paying close attention you will be confused.
2. Yu Yu Hakusho: Honestly, I might be a bit biased. This series is the first anime I've ever seen, and I thought it was completely amazing at the time. I didn't know what anime was--there was only cartoons, and it was only available on Adult Swim, which made it feel like the forbidden fruit on the tree of knowledge. It would be easy to say that it was just the gateway to better anime back in the day, but I've found that it still holds up and even surpasses most other series that get released. The main character was a bad-ass, ass kicking machine who still had enough complicated sides to him to make him relate-able. It never felt like anyone was wasting time, they always went to fighting because they knew that's what we wanted. Also, I kind of prefer the old animation style better than the current style, because it put less emphasis on cleavage and more emphasis on everything else.
1. Outlaw Star: Another nostalgia title for me, cause back when I was little Toonami only showed the good stuff. What I liked about Outlaw star was that it was the first anime series that introduced me to anime tits, but it did it in a way that wasn't shallow. The story as I perceived it was about a man who wanted more a child at heart but was forced to act the adult when trouble arises. Although he was shallow and slept with more whores than should be allowed when he's living so fiscally, he's still struggles to put the paste behind him and grow into the man he knows he needs to be. Space westerns such as Cowboy Bebop and Trigun used to be incredibly popular it seems, and I can see why.
