Poll: Student tears down "free speech wall"

So apparently earlier this week a student in a university set up a sheet of paper for everyone to share their thoughts. It allowed any opnion to be written down ranging from "queer is OK" to "abortion is murder". Later a student came by and tore the wall down becuase they thought that the sign was homophobic due to some opinions saying "I like traditional marriage".

Personally I appluad whoever put the wall up and want to give them the biggest hug in the history of all kind. However, I think whoever tore the wall down was violating everyone's right to freely express themselves and want to give them the biggest slap in the history of all time. My reasoning for this is becuase personally i think if neither party can express their feelings then we run the risk of being just as much of a close-minded prick of whichever opposite end of the spectrum.

Full article here:(thanks to Thunderos cacapony for the source)http://news.nationalpost.com/2013/01/22/not-every-opinion-is-valid-activist-censors-peers-by-tearing-down-universitys-free-speech-wall/

To support this i would like everyone's opinion on this matter: was the student justified for taking down the wall?

EDIT: it is getting real tiresome of people saying: "he was excercising his right to free speech by tearing down the wall". That is not free speech, that is vandalism. or summed nicely by the delightful chap Ryotknife]

Frission:
The student could arguably have been practicing free speech by tearing down that wall.

by destroying property and preventing others from expressing their opinion? He could have wrote "I hate this wall" and that would have been fine.
