Ok, I'm gonna list the top best rock albums ever. I'm basing this not just off of personal taste, but which ones I think have left their mark on the music industry and rock in general. These bands have all brought something good to the table of rock, and thought not all of them are in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, they should be. Feel free to give your own top 5, now let's rock:
#5. Abbey Road by The Beatles
The Beatles are one of those bands that deserve their fame, some people think they're overrated, those people should can it. Abbey Road is legendary, and not explaination is needed. Where would music be today without the Fab Four? They basically created rock. Yet they're only #5 in our countdown.
#4. The Wall by Pink Floyd
Another album for the books. Though Pink Floyd isn't for everyone, there's no doubt that this is one of their most well known albums. If you like your rock a little harder than Abbey Road and Sgt. Pepper, you probably have listened to this album. The Wall is probably the best concept album of all time, but maybe not the best rock album.
#3. Out of the Blue by ELO
Love them or hate them, ELO (Electric Light Orchestra) wins brownie points for originality. Their sound, a hybrid of classical orechestra music with a retro space-age sound was one of the great bands of the 70s. Even in the 80s, they were still popular. Mr. Blue Sky remains a a rock classic, and Jeff Lyne, front man of the band, still produces his own music. Keep rockin', Jeff!
#2. Meteora by Linkin' Park
This album is boss. Though there weren't many great rock albums in the 90s, Linkin' Park was getting it's start at the dawn of the millenium, mostly an underground band in the early days of its career, Linkin' Park released this hardcore album in 2004, and changed the face of the underground music scene, and started a new genre of music known as NuMetal.
and now for our #1 rock album of all time:
#1 American Idiot by Green Day
What is there to say? Green Day rocks. Billie Joe Armstrong and his band mates struck hold with this album, which tells of suburban life for the typical teen during the difficult time of post-911 America. The album addresses issues of rebellion, identity, war, anarchy and how the government lied. Green Day put the angst we all were feeling in 2003-2004 and put it into words, we were all walking on the boulevard of broken dreams. The album even received its share of controversary, and that is why when it comes to rock, American Idiot reigns supreme.
