Okay first off I want to say what I mean by the terms Conservative and Liberal as from my experience everyone looks at the words and defines them differently. To make it simple as possible;
Conservative: Less Government power overall.
Liberal: More Government power overall.
Those may be vague definitions but I think it helps simplify things for this discussion.
Basically, what do you think is the difference (if there is one) between Liberals and Conservatives when it comes to how they look at and think about things. Whats their perspective, their frame of mind, or their values. That sort of thing.
To me I think it can be simplified as Conservatives being more individualistic while Liberals see society at large as something that should be accountable. This is why Conservatives often look down upon Welfare as they see it as individual failings bringing down the society as a whole and the welfare is simply encouraging the "bad behavior", they believe it should be the individual who should work to righting his issues not everyone. Liberals would basically believe the opposite in that it was society who let the individual down and it's society's job to help him. This can also be why Conservatives would want less government regulation of firearms as it is basically putting a burden on individuals who have themselves caused no ill with their firearms and are being punished for others' mistakes.
Vague examples maybe but I believe it demonstrates the point.
