So, there's a group of people out there that all have similar beliefs and ideals - maybe you know them in real life, or just meet them on the internet, either way you just keep meeting up with them. Whether or not you share their beliefs is irrelevant to the meetings; You could disagree with what they believe but still want to be friends with them, or you could use your similar ideals to kick off a friendship.
But that's not how any of it works. Instead, every single meeting you have with the members of this group ends horribly, with little to no positive experiences occuring in any interactions.
For me, this is what happens every time I meet a Vegan - I know full well there are nice vegans out there, I've heard many tales of their existence - yet without fail every Vegan I meet is either so high up on their horse they break through the atmosphere or try to brow beat me into submission with morality and heavy-handed arguments. It's gotten to the point where I actively avoid vegans, as I assume somewhere down the line the horrible behavior's gonna kick up and I'm gonna run for the hills to escape all the 'Meat is Murder' and 'Your an evil man for enjoying steak' comments.
This kinda sucks because I don't actually disagree with Vegans on an idealistic basis - it's just every vegan I've met has tried to shove their ideals down my throat.
So, my fellow Escapists, what groups just rub you the wrong way everytime you meet them?
(Obviously nothing like 'I don't like Asians because one asian guy stabbed me and took my shoes' - let's save racism/sexism discussions for topics slightly more focused on that, please?)
