Video Games, I may give you up.

Well I had to sell my xbox at a point. Which was a big mistake.
I recently got into linux, and thought maybe with the Linux beta of steam it might be a great time to be a PC gamer.

How very wrong I was.
See I don't make much money, and I have a family to support.
After getting into the Linux beta, I found out my video card, granted showing it age a little. Is not supported. It is supported on Windows... but not Linux.

FAIL.

So I was thinking, why is pc gaming better? Why should I shell out 1000 bucks for a game machine that obsolete the next year? Is this a rich man's world? And all gaming now I can do, only be the stupid shit you see on facebook?

I'm very disappointed and quiet frankly turned off now on PC gaming. I wishing I would of rather sold my computer. Which is drastic. I love my computer mind you, I spend more time tinkering with it then anything else. But I feel absolutely burned by the PC development community. As if shelling out 60 bucks a game wasn't enough. I've got to buy Video cards about the value of a WHOLE GAMING CONSOLE. Makes you wonder why console gaming is a bigger market force? Don't wonder, because the PC market is over saturated and over priced.

And further to point, I tried to think of really good memories I had on my 360... Not many. In fact I find myself remembering how frustrated I got that the games became so boring so fast. I could only put up with CoD for maybe a week before I was bored with the multiplayer and BF3 same deal (I like shooters). Mass Effect 3 kind of ruined a good thing. Fable always fell short and almost every other game that was in my library from Skyrim to Borderlands... Boring, they got boring quick. Once I was done, I was done and I felt like I was ripped off of 30 to 60 bucks. The market itself sucks. Nothing is really as entertaining as it once was. Seems like 15 years ago, money got you further and more content.

Don't get my wrong these games were fun but eventually they become tired and boring way to quick (under a week in most cases). May be it's a personal problem, but as a kid I spent YEARS playing the same game. I would boot up Syphon Filter for the hell of it, still do some days. I never bothered with a Call of Duty once the new was in my hands. Even then I felt like I over-paid for a rehash of the same experience.

Nothing feels classic any more, nothing of this generation has truly stuck with me. And the market it self looks bleak, looks crappy. Looks completely like a waste of money. Maybe I'm just upset I threw all my eggs in the Steam Linux basket and now I'm getting left out of the party because my costume isn't expensive enough.
Maybe I'm "Growing up". I still find it sad, I thought gaming was a hobby I'd have forever but now I'm finding I like my other cheaper hobbies better, not simply because they are cheaper, but they are actually more fun and constructive. Personal feeling, I try to get excited for some of the things on the horizon but I'm tired of being disappointed, by the product, by not having the right hardware, by simply being broke. If I don't see anything good soon, something I can be apart of, I think this might mean good bye. And it breaks my heart.

Anyone else feel the same? Or felt the same? What got your through it? Did you walk away from gaming for awhile?
