Like most of you guys, I can finally breath a sigh of relief since the Twilight Saga is finally and definitively over (unless of course they decided to make a shitty spin-off). But as Bob pointed out in last last week's episode of The Big Picture this kind of movies are far from dieing out as long as they make money.
But enough of that, when I first read this news on my facebook account I thought someone was trolling everyone else but it turns out they aren't kidding.
As the title says of my thread the CBCP aka the highest council of priest and bishops here in my country the Philippines recommends the book and the movie adaptation because (get ready for this) it uplifts morality because it has a pro-life stance.
Uhhh..... did I read that correctly? Officially I'm still a Catholic in paper but I never practiced being one for the last five years for various reasons mostly because of all the rampant corruption in the church that is being exposed recently and if I denounced my so called religion everyone will hate me and also I have an uncle that's a priest(so yeah you can call me a hypocrite).
But never in a million years I expect to read/hear a news such as this.
Have they even read the books since they already translated it to Filipino so they can understand it along with 50 Shades of Grey, Hunger Games and The Vampire Diaries.
As expected savvy netizens called foul on this and as also expected some defended them on their right to recommend movies.
Also I think this is connected with the ongoing battle to pass the RH bill that these idiot priests think is morally offensive because if this bill is passed contraceptives will now be a mandatory part of family planning along with natural methods. And surprise surprise they are against it.
So what do you think? Me, just the notion that priests endorsed this and calling it near to wholesome? makes me shudder.
